Italian ornament of this original artistic binding of the 17th century. made of red Moroccan leather, or morocco, is a beautiful illustration of the ventaglio, or fan-shaped, bookbinding style shown on our Rosso cover in a decorative gold frame.

There is no better notebook to jot down your magnum opus - an outstanding literary work - here is a magnificent example of the a ventaglio binding method, i.e. like a fan. Bound in red-brown Moroccan leather, overlaid with melted gilt using a technique we've recreated, there are unadorned pages with plenty of space to chronicle the day's events or record detailed works of fiction.

In the middle of the cover there is a rose window surrounded by a pattern that shows the influence of the East, and in each corner there is a quarter window in the form of a filigree fan. This intricate ornamental form is typical of the Italian and Spanish Baroque, and the geometric division reflects the French style? la fanfare, which came into fashion in the first half of the 17th century. The Baroque decorative style, characterized by an abundance of richly decorated details, aimed to display deep symbolism through opulence.
