2014. The war in Donbass has become a terrible reality. It was then that the best and most devoted sons of Ukraine, volunteers, went straight from the Maidan to defend Ukraine from the enemy. Then no one could have thought that this war would drag on for years.

Vitaly Markov is one of the volunteers. He left his quiet life in Italy and returned home, defending the country. But since 2017, he became a hostage and participant in another front - the war for the honor of the state of Ukraine.

For more than three years, a Ukrainian serviceman was behind bars in Italy, convicted of involvement in the death of an Italian photojournalist. In November 2020, after studying additional materials provided by the defense, the jury completely acquitted Vitaly. On November 3, Vitaly Markov returned to Ukraine.
