Tioctanum solution for infection. 600mg/24ml fl. 24 ml No. 5

Tioctanum is accepted for treatment of symptoms of peripheral (sensomotor) diabetic polyneuropathy.

Structure

Active ingredient: thioctic (α-lipoic) acid;

1 bottle of solution contains a trometamola to a tioktat of 952.2876 mg (600 mg of thioctic (α-lipoic) acid are equivalent);

Excipients: trometamol, 1 M solution to a trometamol, water for injections.

Contraindication

Tiokton is absolutely contraindicated to patients with hypersensitivity to thioctic acid or to other components of medicine.

Routes of administration

Dose and duration of treatment is established by the doctor individually.

Feature of use

At parenteral administration to Tiokton observed reactions of hypersensitivity of varying severity, up to an acute anaphylaxis. Thus, during treatment the patients have to be under observation of the doctor. In case of the first signs (such as itching, nausea, weakness), it is necessary to stop immediately and if necessary to render appropriate assistance.

After use to Tiokton the unusual smell of urine, this phenomenon insignificant from the clinical point of view can be observed.

Tiokton has no influence or has insignificant impact on speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms.

Overdose

in case of overdose can appear nausea, vomiting and a headache.

Side reactions

from blood and lymphatic system: very seldom - a thrombopathy.

from the immune system: it is unknown - allergic reactions, such as rash, urticaria, eczema and itching anaphylactic reactions.

Metabolism and disorders of food: very seldom - a hypoglycemia.

from nervous system: infrequently - a dysgeusia; very seldom - apoplectic seizure, spasms, a headache, dizziness, perspiration.

from an organ of sight: very seldom - a diplopia, visual disturbances.

from digestive tract: seldom - nausea and vomiting.

from skin and hypodermic cellulose: very seldom - a purpura.

General disturbances and local reactions: very seldom - reactions in the injection site.

After a fast injection there can be a feeling of pressure in the head and breath difficulty which pass independently.

Interaction

At simultaneous treatment by Tiokton and Cisplatinum the efficiency of the last decreases.

At simultaneous treatment with Tiokton the antihyperglycemic effect of insulin and/or other antidiabetic means can amplify. In this regard, especially in an initiation of treatment of thioctic acid, regular control of level of sugar in blood is shown. For prevention of emergence of symptoms of a hypoglycemia in some cases there can be a need for a dose decline of insulin and/or oral antidiabetic means.

Regular alcohol intake is essential risk factor for development and progressing of a clinical picture of neuropathy, and can have negative effect on process of treatment by Tiokton thus. Therefore patients from diabetic polyneuropathy are usually recommended to abstain from alcohol consumption whenever possible. Restriction concerns also breaks between courses of treatment.
