Description

The life of the outstanding writer of the twentieth century, Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940), in itself is worthy of becoming the plot of a literary work. Service in the White Guard, the hated practice of a zemstvo doctor and drug addiction, censorship bans on works and love madness, a fatal diagnosis and work on “The Master and Margarita” in a race with death. . . His
fate was doomed to defeat in life and posthumous fame, but his books still evoke admiration, love, fierce debate and have undoubted success all over the world. “Theatrical Novel” is largely autobiographical (in 1930-1936, Bulgakov worked at the Moscow Art Theater as an assistant director). This is a poignant and sad “romance with the theater”, an exciting and satirical story of the “backstage world”, where non-theatrical feats and betrayals occur for the sake of acting on stage.
The difficult path of the outstanding French comedian of the 17th century is shown in the novel “The Life of Monsieur de Molière.” It was no coincidence that Mikhail Bulgakov became interested in the personality of the great playwright: their fates are in many ways similar, primarily in the close attention of the authorities to the work of these writers.
