SR Metaminum of the tab. of 500 mg No. 30

tablets SR Metaminum are shown in diabetes 2 types (non-insulin-dependent) at adults (especially at patients with excess body weight) at inefficiency of a dietotherapy and physical activities, as monotherapy or in a combination with other oral hypoglycemic means or together with insulin.

Structure

Active ingredient: metformin hydrochloride;

1 tablet contains metformin of a hydrochloride 500 mg;

Excipients: cellulose microcrystalline, ethyl cellulose, gipromelloza, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide colloidal.

Contraindication

• hypersensitivity to metformin or to any other component of drug;
• any type of an acute metabolic acidosis (for example, lactoacidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis)
• diabetic coma;
• a renal failure of heavy degree (the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) <30 ml/min.)
• acute conditions proceeding with risk of developing renal failures such, as: organism dehydration, serious infectious diseases, shock;
• a disease which dekompensirovanny heart failure, respiratory insufficiency, recently postponed myocardial infarction, shock can lead to development of a hypoxia of fabrics (especially acute diseases or exacerbations of a chronic disease);
• liver failure, acute alcoholic poisoning, alcoholism.

Route of administration

Recommended initial dose - 500 mg (1 tablet) a day.

In 10-15 days of the carried-out treatment a dose needs to be modified according to results of measurements of level of glucose in blood. Slow increase in a dose promotes decrease in side effects from a digestive tract. The maximum recommended dose makes 2000 mg (4 tablets) a day.

Pregnant

in case of pregnancy planning and also in case of approach of pregnancy recommends not to apply metformin to treatment of disturbances of glycemic control or diabetes.

Children

not to use Drug to children as there are no clinical data on this age group of patients.

Overdose

At use of medicament in a dose of 85 g of development of a hypoglycemia it was not observed. However in this case development of lactoacidosis was observed. Considerable exceeding a dose of metformin or contributing factors of risk can lead to developing of a lactacidemia. Lactoacidosis is medical emergency. In case of development of a lactacidemia of medicament treatment it is necessary to stop and to urgently hospitalize the patient. The most effective action for removal from an organism of a lactate and metformin is the hemodialysis.

Side effects

from nervous system. Often: disturbance of taste.

from a digestive tract. Very often: disturbances from digestive system, such, as: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, lack of appetite. Most often these by-effects arise in an initiation of treatment and in most cases spontaneously disappear. For prevention of emergence of by-effects from digestive tract the slow increase in a dose of medicament is recommended.

Interaction

Alcohol. The acute drunkenness is associated with the increased risk of lactoacidosis, especially in cases of starvation or observance of a low-calorie diet and also in a liver failure. At the SR Metaminum medicament treatment it is necessary to avoid the intake of ethanol and medicines containing ethanol.

Combination which should be applied with care. The medicines having hyper glycemic effect (GKS of systemic and local action, sympathomimetics). It is necessary to control to a thicket glucose level in blood, especially in an initiation of treatment.
