Description
For more than 100 years, the world has been reading works about Sherlock Holmes. The glory of this hero eclipsed all literary characters in world literature.
This volume includes the story “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (1902) - one of the best works among those stories that the English writer Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) wrote about his favorite hero - the talented detective Sherlock Holmes .
A gloomy legend is associated with the ancient estate of the Lords of the Baskervilles: several centuries ago, a terrible ghost dog appeared in the deserted swamps surrounding the castle and killed one of the Baskervilles who had committed a heinous crime. Since then, the howling of a dog has been heard more than once in the swamps, and this always foreshadowed misfortune in the Baskerville family. But the most mysterious event happened quite recently: in the park alley adjacent to the swamp, old Sir Charles Baskerville was found dead, having gone out for a walk before going to bed. And a few steps away from him, the footprints of a huge dog were clearly visible in the sand.
