There is a reason that bloodthirsty hatred has to be taught to people - not even just taught, but loudly imposed. This kind of hatred is not a natural phenomenon. It is true. And these lies are told again and again - often to people who do not have the means and opportunity to see everything from a different angle. My father believed this lie and hoped to pass it on to me.
I spent my whole life trying to understand what drove my father to terrorism, and struggling with the realization that there was blood flowing in my veins. In telling this story, I would like to give the reader something hopeful and instructive. Show a portrait of a young man who, raised in the fire of fanaticism, nevertheless chose the path of non-violence. I cannot claim any uniqueness or greatness, but the life of every person has a special leitmotif, and mine so far is this: every person has a choice.
