Description

Imeretian saffron is a fairly well-known spice, but it is used mainly in Georgian cuisine. Ukrainians know this seasoning simply as dried marigold stamens.

This spice has a rather subtle pleasant aroma. Imeretian saffron is also used as a natural food coloring, which can give food a golden hue.

In medicine, the spice is known as a remedy used against helminthic infestations, a diaphoretic, and a diuretic.

In cooking, this seasoning is used for food with nuts, rice, and first courses. Imereti saffron is one of the components of hop-suneli.

In order for the spice to reveal its aroma, before use it is soaked in milk or water for several minutes. The later you add Imeretian saffron to food, the more delicate the aroma you will get.
