The Chinese zodiac is a classification system based on the lunar calendar. It assigns an animal as well as a set of personal attributes to a person born each year and resets every 12 years. This line of writing instruments features unique hand-decorated guards, a technique perfected with their limited editions. The original shapes of Montegrappa pens combined with decorative 18K cast gold overlays create a unique combination of three-dimensional art with a perfectly balanced writing instrument - an heirloom to treasure now and forever. The dog is an indigenous animal in ancient China proper. The oldest images of the Dog were engraved on a bronze vase from the Zhou Dynasty. The dog is valued for its loyalty, although it is used for many purposes and serves as both a guardian and a scavenger. A dog is a naturally cautious creature and skillfully chooses men. Peking dogs were pets of the imperial family, as mentioned in the records of the Zhou Dynasty in 1000 BC.
