F. M. Dostoevsky is one of those few writers who influenced the minds of not only his contemporaries, but also his descendants. In his work, he posed the most important, most difficult questions. He can rightfully be called the most widely read Russian writer, who gained fame not only for the artistic merits of his prose, but also for their philosophical and moral content. In his works, “all the depths of the human soul” are exposed and “the devil fights with God, and the battlefield is the hearts of people.”

This is exactly what happens with the hero of the novel “The Teenager” (1875), which, along with the works “Crime and Punishment”, “The Idiot”, “Demons”, “The Brothers Karamazov”, forms the so-called great pentateuch of Dostoevsky. The illegitimate son of a landowner and a former serf peasant woman early learned poverty, humiliation and lack of rights. The writer peers closely at the young man, trying to predict his fate, and therefore the fate of many thousands, “for generations are created from teenagers” (the last words of the novel).
