Description

Jack London (1876–1916) is a writer whose name immediately brings to mind thoughts of wolves, a gold rush, the sea and a ship. Previously, the publishing house "Folio" published the collection "White Tooth", the novels "Hearts of Three", "Martin Eden", "Daughter of the Snows" and "Moon Valley". The novel “The Sea Wolf” was no exception - from the snowy plains of Alaska and adventures in the Yukon, Jack London moves his heroes to the stormy ocean. This is a story about how one “journey” can radically change one’s destiny, about strong spirit and body, about sea adventures, courage and romance. Although with romance, not everything is so simple. The main character, literary critic Humphrey Van Weyden, after a shipwreck, ends up on a schooner with the gloomy name “Ghost”. There was no time to rejoice at the rescue: the captain of the ship, Wolf Larsen, turned out to be a real despot. Everyone who boards his schooner becomes his slaves for life. Larsen captivates everyone ostensibly to work for himself and subsequently profit from the hunt for fur seals, but in reality he likes to keep everyone in fear, mock them and demonstrate his strength to them. Many tried to stop the captain, but in vain. Despair and fear enveloped the ill-fated schooner in an invisible fog. It seems that an unenviable fate is prepared for Humphrey...
