Description
Alfred Hong (1920-1981) was a Chernivtsi student and school friend of Paul Celan. His lyrical creativity is signified by the richness and scope of existential problems. Vaughn raises the themes of humanism and barbarism, destruction and death, the end of the atomic threat, the struggle for the last light and the jokes of the senses. Filled with biting irony, wry sarcasm and indelicate grotesque, experimental in rhythm and form, which strives to break common, moral and psychological taboos, to cultivate a “low” style, which is not unique to the dialect. changes and jargon, but often goes into understanding scientific nonsense. This publication is the first attempt to provide a representative view of the creativity of this extraordinary, perhaps unknown, poet in Ukraine.
