Description
The life of the outstanding writer of the twentieth century Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940) in itself is worthy of becoming the plot of a literary work. Service in the White Guard, the hated practice of a zemstvo doctor and drug addiction, censorship bans on works and love madness, a fatal diagnosis and work on “The Master and Margarita” in a race with death. . . His duel with fate was doomed to defeat in life and posthumous fame, but his books still evoke admiration, love, fierce debate and have undoubted success all over the world.
Mikhail Bulgakov's dramaturgy is as original and significant as his prose - both in content, and in literary techniques for constructing conflict, and in the characters. The collection includes plays written in the 1920s and 1930s: the drama about Moliere “The Cabal of the Holy One,” the tragedy about the last days of Pushkin (both plays touch on eternal problems, including the relationship between the artist and the authorities), as well as a mischievous comedy "Ivan Vasilyevich", brilliantly filmed by Leonid Gaidai in 1973, the play about Stalin's youth "Batum" and others. The author did not see most of them either on the theater stage or in print.
