Powder for solution for injections Gerpevir is shown for treatment of the infections caused by a herpes simplex virus at patients with an immunodeficiency and heavy genital herpes at patients without immunodeficiency.

Structure

Active ingredient: aciclovir;

acyclovir of sodium salt sterile in terms of acyclovir – 250 mg.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, a valatsiklovir.

Route of administration

is Applied by slow intravenous infusion within not less than 1 hour.

Course of treatment Gerpevir for intravenous administration usually lasts 5 days, but duration can be changed depending on a condition of the patient and the corresponding reaction to therapy. Treatment of herpes simplex encephalitis lasts usually 10 days. Treatment of infections at the newborns called by a herpes simplex virus lasts usually 14 days at damage of skin and mucous membranes and 21 days – at dissimination and damage of the central nervous system.

Duration of preventive application of Gerpevir for intravenous administration is defined by duration of the period of risk of infection.

Overdose

At overdose of acyclovir by intravenous administration increases the level of serumal creatinine, urea nitrogen of blood and, respectively, the renal failure develops. The confusion of consciousness, a hallucination, excitement, spasms and a coma can be neurologic manifestations of overdose.
