Pharmacological properties

Antibacterial agent of group of nitrofurans. affects gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms — staphylococcus, streptococci, dysenteric and intestinal sticks, a stick of a paratyphoid, the causative agent of gas gangrene, etc.

Indication

Outwardly for treatment and prevention of pyoinflammatory processes.

Use

Outwardly in the form of water 0.02% (1: 50000) solution, alcohol 0.066% (1: 1500) solution. for preparation of water solution 1 part of Furacilin is dissolved in 5000 parts of isotonic solution of sodium of chloride or the distilled water. it is recommended to apply boiled or hot water to faster dissolution then solution is cooled to room temperature. water solution can be stored for a long time. sterilization of solution of Furacilin produce at 100 °C within 30 min. alcohol solution of Furacilin (1: 1500) make for 70% alcohol, it can be stored unlimited time.

In purulent wounds, decubituses and ulcers, burns of II and III degree, and on a secondary seam apply water solution of Furacilin to preparation of the granulated surfaces for skin transplantation — irrigate a wound and apply water dressings; in osteomyelitis after the made operation the cavity is washed with water solution of Furacilin and apply water dressing; at an empyema of a pleura aspirate pus and wash out a pleural cavity with the subsequent introduction to it of water solution of Furacilin in number of 20–100 ml. Besides, medicament is used in furuncles of external acoustical pass, for washing of near-nasal bosoms (water solution); in conjunctivitis and scrofulous diseases of eyes dig in water solution of Furacilin in a conjunctival sac. Drug is used also at other purulent processes demanding prescribing of antibacterial agents.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to drug, a chronic allergic dermatosis.

Side effects

Dermatitis demanding a temporary break in treatment or medicament withdrawals. at intake the anorexia, nausea, sometimes vomiting, dizziness, allergic reactions are possible.
