Description
“Friends are known in adversity” - this catchphrase belongs to the “father of the tale” Aesop.
2600 years ago, the slave Aesop created more than 400 fables. All this time they were retold from mouth to mouth, and thus about 100 works have reached us. The translation of Aesop's fables for this book was made by a real storyteller, the “Ukrainian nightingale” Alexander Vizhenki. He translated 35 fables!
Children during the time of Aristophanes in Athens learned from the works of Aesop. Much has changed since then, but human shortcomings remain the same. Why is that? Maybe because many people never read Aesop's fables as children? ;-) This collection can become a “vaccination” against greed, laziness, pride, ingratitude and other shortcomings.
The strength of Aesop's fables is not in the educational conclusions, but in the “Aesopian language”, allegorical images of animals: the Wolf embodies cruelty, the Fox - cunning, the Eagle - nobility, and the like. It is in this form that the idea becomes clear to the child.
