Barbary (Berberis) is a bush that belongs to the genus of deciduous or evergreen thorny bushes of the barberry family, which has about 600 species, spread throughout the entire earth (Crimea Australia). The name is similar to the Latin “beiberi”, which means “breadberry”. In Ukraine, because of its very sour berries, people call barberry sour, kislyanka, or sour lemon.

Mix sprague with barberry berries. Barberry juice is mixed with other juices, added to compotes and fruit drinks. Boil the barberry, as it contains a single small piece - large brushes.

In cooking, dried barberry is a widely used seasoning, it is best suited to the herbs of rice and lamb. The assortment of confectionery factories includes “barberry” ice cakes, which are popularly called “barberry”.
