Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Azelastin - derivative a ftalazinona of new structure, the having prolonged anti-allergenic effect and having the significant properties of the selection antagonist of histamine n1-receptors.

Azelastin suppresses synthesis or release of the chemical mediators which are taking part in allergic reactions at early and late stages, such as leukotrienes, histamine, inhibitors of a factor of activation of platelets of PAF and serotonin.

Assessment of the ECG of the patients, a long time applying azelastin in high doses shows that clinically significant influence on an interval of Q-T is absent.

Pharmacokinetics. After repeated application of eye drops Allergodil (on 1 drop in each eye 4 times a day) the C _max an azelastina in blood plasma was very low and was on the lower bound of quantitative definition (9.2 ng/ml) or did not reach it.

Indication

Drop eye:

• treatment and prevention of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis at adults and children are aged more senior than 4 years;
• treatment and prevention of year-round (nonseasonal) allergic conjunctivitis at adults and children are aged more senior than 12 years.

Use

Drop eye

Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis: usually to adults and children 4 years are aged more senior dig in on 1 drop in each eye 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening), if necessary increase the frequency of application to 4 times a day.

For prevention medicament is used before possible contact with allergen.

Nonseasonal allergic conjunctivitis: usually to adults and children 12 years are aged more senior dig in on 1 drop in each eye 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening), if necessary increase the frequency of application to 4 times a day.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to drug, the pregnancy period (especially the I trimester) and feedings by a breast.

Side effects

Drop eye: perhaps slight irritation of eyes, emergence of bitter smack in a mouth. in isolated cases the emergence of allergic reactions is possible.

from nervous system: vertigo, dysgeusia.

from the system of breath: irritation of a mucous membrane of a nose, burning, itch and sneezing, nasal bleeding.

from a GIT: nausea.

from skin: skin rash, itch, small tortoiseshell.

Others: fatigue, feeling of fatigue, weakness.

Special instructions

is not recommended to carry contact lenses during treatment by eye drops allergodit. Not to apply to treatment of infectious damages of eyes. the benzalkoniya can lead chloride to irritation of a mucous membrane of an eye.

Alcohol enhances severity of side effects from central nervous system.

Period of pregnancy and feeding by a breast. Use of the praparat is contraindicated during pregnancy (especially in І a trimester) and feedings by a breast. In need of Allergodil's application it is necessary to stop feeding by a breast.

Children. Allergodil eye drops apply to treatment of children aged is more senior 4 (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) and 12 years (nonseasonal (year-round) allergic conjunctivitis) are more senior.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with mechanisms. Drug does not possess an adverse effect on ability to control of vehicles and work with difficult mechanisms, however in the presence of temporary irritation of a mucous membrane of an eye it is recommended to refrain from control of vehicles or work with difficult mechanisms. At use of nasal spray in isolated cases there can be a fatigue, feeling of fatigue, weakness, dizziness which can accompany a disease. In these cases the speed of reactions at control of vehicles and work with other mechanisms can be reduced.
